Mom wanted me to tell you that this week’s blog post is going to be incredibly short. Why? Because today is my fourth birthday, and my official editorial ruling is that the day is all about me.

She has a new portrait done of me to celebrate my special day each year. Personally, I think this one captures my essence perfectly—a watchful guardian angel, a faithful guide, and the undisputed protector of the under-desk realm. Though, to be completely accurate, the artist left out my cozy spots between her feet and my joie de vivre.

Mom is officially putting the red ink away, closing the laptop, and stepping away from the keyboard. Her only assignment for the next twenty-four hours is to deliver a steady stream of birthday kisses, yummy treats and leave me to my scheduled nap time in peace.
